There are so many yummy things to eat in London. I started a list of some of my favorite places for London’s Eats and Treats.

London Eats and Treats

Afternoon Tea

  • When I think of England, I think of high tea. I love high tea. I love the variety of sandwiches and sweets, and of course, a comforting cup or two of hot tea. Ken had never been to afternoon tea and was very skeptical. However, our afternoon tea at Searcy’s made him a tea-liever.
  • Searcy’s St. Pancras
    • Searcy’s Champagne Bar serves a traveled-inspired afternoon tea menu. That’s right, travel-inspired afternoon tea served in a vintage suitcase in the St. Pancras Train Station… this was 100% on my track.
    • Reservations are required and can be made on their website. Tea is only served Monday-Saturdays from 3 pm-5 pm.

Indian Food!

  • You may be surprised to know, London is famous for its Indian cuisine. In fact, chicken tikka masala is one of the UK’s most popular dishes. Some sources will even say it was invented in London.
  • Little India on Grays Inn Road
    • We LOVED this little restaurant. It’s cozy and the service was attentive and kind. We asked for recommendations to go with the chicken tikka masala. We wanted a little more spice since we’ve learned European chicken tikka masala tends to be more on the sweet side. They suggested the Daba Murgh, and it was FANTASTIC. A great combination!

Taverns

  • I love pub food…. And I especially wanted to try some of the more traditional London fares.
  • Lamb Tavern in Leadenhall Market
    • We sat upstairs to get a beautiful view of Leadenhall Market. Also, a great spot for people watching as many tourists strut and snap endless amounts of photos.
    • We tried the bangers and mash and the farmhouse pork scotch egg. Yum!
  • The Red Lion: Ale & Pie
    • I couldn’t leave London without trying a savory pie. The pub is on the main floor while the restaurant is an adorable setting on the 2nd We had the Fuller’s black pudding Scotch egg, steak and Fuller’s London Pride mini pie, and the traditional East end minced beef and onion mini pie. These mini pies were amazing! I’m glad we decided to get a small sampling because both pies were delicious. We also got the fish & chips, because why not?

Pubs

  • Pubs help create a sense of community. My recommendation is to walk around at night and find a local pub. You have the opportunity to meet nice people while you have a beer. Tip, watch the bartender pour that beer. It’s different than the taps in the US and fun to watch.

Hope you found some interesting London Eats and Treats!

I know I had a good time looking for good places to eat. I’d love to hear some of your recommendations too.
